Fine Art Nude with Lindsay Adler

When you study Art and Design you need to understand visual structure through the study of drawing, modeling of form, value structure, perspective principles, color and design theory. One of my first classes at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco was Depiction of Human Figure. We had models that posed for us for 6 hours a day for several weeks, we explored all aspects of design by looking at the human body. You would think this would help in photographing a nude. Mmmh, think again. For some reason, when you find yourself with a camera in your hands in a fast paced environment with the task of directing and making on the spot decision, everything changes. You are not creating a composition with a pencil and eraser through the course of weeks, you are directing a real person in real time, in multiple poses, while making tens of technical decisions on exposure, depth of field, shutter speed, flash output, modifiers..and let's not forget having to help the models convey a certain mood, not to mention having to focus on your communication skills. It was a brain  activity overload, a strenuous physical effort (we were out in the sun for 8 hours) and an incredible communication challenge. I L.O.V.E.D. it!!! Lindsay Adler was amazing, such great energy and strong personality. The models were exceptional and we had a super talented make up artist.
